Year of the Rat International Exchange and Exhibition

HANDMADE BOOKS & PRINTS!

The 7th International Print Exchange and Exhibition using the Chinese Year of the Rat a inspiration is making a call for prints and handmade books. It is free to participate and the due date is December 15th, 2007. The exhibition will be held at PROOF Studio Gallery in The Distillery District in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The 2008 exhibition will be January 30 – February 13th with the opening Thursday February 7th on Chinese New Year.

This year I have decided to expand the print exchange to include handmade books that incorporate some form of printmaking into the exchange and exhibition. Using the theme of The Year of the Rat, the books could include relief prints, letterpress, hand stamped or rubbed printing, silkscreen, etching, litho, woodcuts or any other traditional print method or mixed media involving print. (Please not straight digital books)

If you wish to participate in the Exchange component of the International Print Exchange and Exhibition you can submit 3 - 5 copies of the book. One is used for exhibition and fund raising to cover mailing and exhibition costs and the others offered for sale or used to exchange with other artists. Artists receive sales. Books can be any size but no larger than 10” x 10” for mailing purposes – small books are suggested. Attached please find the submission information and history of the print exchange over the past 6 years.

If you wish to participate in the Exhibition component only and not the exchange, that is great but I need a photo or description of the intended book to reserve space for the February exhibition. There is no size constraint. I will need a confirmation before December 15th that you will be sending a book, but it does not need to be delivered until January 15th. Books may be offered for sale if the artist is so inclined. There will be a mailing charge to return exhibition books only.
